Decoysales is about to go to a different change.It will still be about decoys -carvings - carvers and collectors, but at a different point of view. I hope viewers will like the change.People go to Museums to visit all types of wonderful items and we are about to do the same. Items will be listed to be viewed in the same way - for the pleasure of admiring great works of art. Carving is one of these we hope to bring to you. Ways to tell if a carving is a good investment, always look for two things - is it a good looking or a different type of carving and last but not least look under to see if it is signed by the carver himself.

Antiqued Mallard Hen
This is an antiqued mallard hen - this is not an original, I don't make it to have that old look just to add more money to it. A lot of our customers like to have an antiqued decoy . It looks good, it looks old and it is always a good conversation piece. This piece has the wood cracked in a couple of places giving it that look of a lot of wear to it. It also has a few fake gun shots in it. Made simular to the Mark Whipple style.

Decorative Horned Grebe Decorative Horned Grebe carved on a small grassy mound with two small branches in the background.Painted with acrylic paint. Grebe is 11 inches long - 3 1/4 inches wide - 9 inches high. Also has inserted wing feathers, feet also carved out. Great feather detail.
Flying Lesser Scaup
This is a flying Lesser Scaup - but over here in the southern part of Louisiana where we live they have a lot of Cajuns and most of them talk the real cajun french, they always say that it is a Doe Gree. Carved with opened wings in a flying position that can be turned completely around on the stand to see the front and the back. Painted in acrylic paint. The wingspread of the wings are 16 inches long - length is 25 1/2 inches - height on stand is 27 1/2 inches. Thank you for looking at the carvings on our web site.

Cajun Redhead Decoy
This is an original miniature cajun redhead decoy. Now you say you don't know what a cajun decoy is. These are small decoys that cajuns hunt with.They put these small decoys in about one inch of water, then they go hide in the grasses and start calling the ducks. When the ducks pass by and hear the duck call they come in to land with the decoys but when they notice the size of the decoys it is too late.They already hit the dirt, you come out pick up the duck -put it in your bag and you save on the high price of shotgun shells. Decoy measures 7 inches long -3 1/2 inches high - 2 1/2 inches wide.

Pancake Greenwing Teal Hen This decoy is what I call a pancake decoy. The reason I call it that is because I do not lie to anyone. Most carvers would say to you just like I called it, the real reason is - tupelo wood is getting to be more and more expensive and when you have a piece of wood not big enough to make a full size decoy. Look at the pictures and see for yourself. Don't get me wrong a lot of carvers makes these. Decoy is11 3/4 inches long - 4 inches wide - 3 1/2 inches high.
